ABSTRACT
The farming system is a
decision-making unit comprising the farm household, cropping systems and
livestock systems, which transforms land, external inputs like seed,
pesticides, nutrients, etc. and labor including knowledge into useful products
that can be consumed or sold. Digital farming is the use oftechnology by
farmers to integrate financial and field-level records for complete farm
activity management. A web-based system that links farmers to buyers, often
referred to as digital agriculture or e-agriculture, can facilitate the entire
agrifood value chain, including e-commerce platforms, e-extension services, and
warehouse receipt systems. It can enhance efficiency, transparency and
profitability The problem statement of this research focus on many farmers
facing challenges such as low profit margins, lack of real-time market
information, dependency on middlemen, a centralized digital platform can
mitigate these issues by providing direct communication and lack of secure
transactions and fair pricing. The project focuses on the development of a
web-based system that links farmers to buyers that would be able to enhance
efficiency, transparency and profitability. The objectives of this research are
to develop a platform for an automatic web-based system that links farmers to
buyers, design a platform where login and registration takes place, build a
database structure used to store data, create a design models for the proposed
system that enter product, design a platform for linking and buying goods,
design a platform that display farmer and digital market, create a platform
that display digital product, design a platform that enable the users to link
out. The project was realized through the adoption of primary and secondary
sources of data collection which includes interview, observation,
questionnaire, the internet and journals. The methodology adopted in this
research is spiral model Software is designed using Html, PHP and java script
and MySQL as the database. The results showed that the reliance on big data may
increase the power differential between farmers and information service
providers
