ABSTRACT
The time clocks were used to record the time
workers reported to work and left work. Employee clocking systems are time
systems used by organizations to accurately record the number of hours worked
by each employee every week. Automated staff clocking information system is an
automated process that verifies workers identity and captures employee traits
with high speed and high levels of accuracy. It maintains the attendance time
of workers such that those who work extra hours are compensated through overtime
pay. This provided the company owner the actual time worked by the employee and
employers paid for actual hours worked by employees. The problem statement of
this research focus on inadequacies of the manual time clock system, the
problem encountered by the staff reservation section, the impact ofthis
software reservation section, the impact ofthis software design is not entirely
perfect, the company policy forbids employees from punching or swiping for each
other and both employees stand a chance of losing their jobs if caught. The aim
of the study is to develop an automated staff clocking information system that
would be able to modernize the inherent problems encountered by the staff and
improve operational performance of MOUAU staff. The objective of the research
study developed a platform for an automated staff clocking information system,
build a database structure used to store and keep track of the time and
employee records, design a platform that keeps track ofthe time and ensures
logical ways to monitor and record an employee’s time, design a platform that
clock in and clock out, design' a system that corrects the inadequacies of the
manual time clocking system with employee list, create a platform that advances
the timekeeping techniques and attendance list, design a platform that displays
administrators account. The researcher developed a questionnaire as an
instrument for data collection from the respondents. Collected data from the
questionnaires was coded, collated, cleaned and analyzed. The application was
realized through the adoption of Agile software development method. In this
work, the results are obtained by designing a system using PHP programming and
MYSQL as the database. The study concluded that there was a statistically
significant influence of automated staff clocking information system on
operational performance.
