ABSTRACT
The research perform focused on the effect of product
distribution strategies on of PZ Cus0 Nig. Plc. The broad objective of the
study was to examine the effect of product distribution strategies on
performance of PZ Cussons Nig. Plc. The specific objectives are (i)to ascertain
the distribution strategies being adopted by PZ Cussons Nig. P1c.(ii) to
determine if the distribution strategies have any significant effect on profit
level of the company. (iii) to ascertain if product distribution strategies
have significant effect on sales. (iv) to find out whether sales has
significant effect on company's proflt.(v) to determine whether the number of
depots has any effect on organizations profit. The dependent variables for this
study are sales and profit while the independent variables are distribution
strategies, number of depots and product distribution. The instruments used
were mainly published information of PZ Cussons Nig. Plc; annual reports of
performance and distribution strategies adopted by the company. Data were
analyzed using simple regression analytical models and company's annual reports
on performance and distribution strategies. Findings of the study indicate that
distribution strategies have effect on the profit level of the company; that
the distribution strategies have significant effect on sales. Furthermore, that
sales volume has no significant effect on profit level of the company, and the
number of depots do not have any significant effect on profit level and
performance of the company. Following the findings of the study, it was
recommended that distribution strategies should be continuously examined as
well as competitors strategies and performance. Performance appraisal and incentives
should be given prior attention. Secondly, sales techniques, goals and
objectives should be communicated to d1 staff and enforced to facilitate the
distribution strategies. Finally, training of sales employees, use of improved
technologies, innovativeness and mostly adequate security network should be
given serious attention for greater performance.
