ABSTRACT
This study
investigated the impact of marketing communication in enhancing the performance
of Guarantee Bank Trust and Ecobank. Among the main findings of the study are
that the management of banks do not pay adequate attention to the image of
their banks and to the use of public relation in maintaining their corporate
image customers and other public of the banks are not satisfied with the
quality of services rendered by their banks. Marketing communication
contributes to the achievement of objectives in banks and most customers would
want to see their banks improve in all areas of customer related services. To
solve some of these problems, the following main recommendations among others
are made; marketing communications departments in banks should be designed in
flne with set objectives, banks should begin to tolerate more customer inputs
in their services. Three hypotheses were postulated and satisfactorily tested
with the chi-square test of independence. Three of them were accepted. The
significance of the study lies mainly in the fact that a more efficient and
profitable banking system would definitely evolve if banks become more
responsive to the needs of their customers.
