ABSTRACT
The study examined the Application of Sales Promotion and
Personal Selling as Strategies for Enhancing Sales Volume in Soft Drinks
Manufacturing Firms in Abia State. The study was carried out in Guinness Plc.,
Aba; the specific objectives were to determine the relationship between sales
promotion and personal selling in sales volume, to determine the effect of
sales promotion and personal selling on market share, to ascertain the effect
of sales promotion and personal selling on corporate probability. Simple random
sampling techniques were employed in selecting 120 respondents used in this
study. Structured questionnaire was administered to the 92 selected
respondents. Descriptive statistics and chi-square were used as analytical
techniques. Its result reveals that Marketing Communication mix variable of
sales promotion and personal selling have effect of the sells volume of the
company under study, sales promotion and personal selling enhance customer
patronage of the company products, sales promotion and personal selling enhance
customer loyalty, Guinness Nigeria Plc. rewards customers adequately as at when
due through prompt redemption of pledges made during sales promotion campaigns,
sales promotion and personal selling enhance market share, marketing communication
through sales promotion and personal selling enhance profitability and that
marketing communications through sales a pro/notion and personal selling
enhances corporate growth. It was recommended that businesses and firms to
strive on improving their budgetary allocations to marketing communication in mix.
