Analysis Of Risk And Its Management Strategies Among Bakery Enterprises In Anambra State, Nigeria:- Okagbue Jude
ABSTRACT
The study analyzed risk and its
management strategies among bakery entrepreneurs in Anambra State. A total of
40 bakery enterprises were purposively selected for the study. Data were
analyzed using descriptive statistics, importance index and multiple
regressions. Result revealed that 70% of the enterprises encountered production
risk, 87.5% of the enterprises applied keeping record strategy, and input cost
was the most ranked risk sources because of constant increase in cost ofinputs
in the country. The result ofmultiple regression show that age of firm, value
of investment, education, and sex positively influenced the number of risk
management strategies adopted while age of entrepreneur and outstanding loan
negatively influenced it. The study recommended that educational programmes
should be organized for all bakery managers and workers in order to be aware of
the risk management strategies that will help to eliminate risk and increase
the level of adoption. Government should encourage bakers by giving them loan
with little interest to increase the value of their investment and finally
government should subsidies the cost of input and improve economic situation of
the country to reduce the amount of money spend on production. This will boost
food security, employment and alleviate poverty.
