The Impact Of job Evaluation On Wages /Salaries Determination (Study Of Nigerian Bottling Company Plc Aba)
ABSTRACT
The broad
objective of the study is to analyze the impact of job evaluation on
wage/salary determination. The study was conducted at Nigerian bottling company
Aha. Primary data was used in the study. Data was generated from the study
using a well-structured questionnaire from a random sample of I 00 respondents.
The study shows that job evaluation is a veritable tool in wage determination.
Effective job evaluation would improve the performance of the workers for
achieving greater productivity, skills and performance of the employees. Job
evaluation significantly determined the wages/salaries paid to the employees in
the company and leads to job effectiveness. Lack of job evaluation resulted in
poor remuneration among the employees in the company therefore this study
concludes that job evaluation impacts on wage determination in the reference
company. This study recommends that the use of job evaluation techniques in
wage determination should be sustained in the company since it impacted on the
effectiveness and performance of the employees. In designing and applying a job
evaluation technique in the company for assessing the wage structure of the
employees, effort should be made to ensure that the job evaluation techniques
adopted by the management of the company does not affect the welfare of the
employees.
