ABSTRACT

The study employed entrepreneurial behavioural index (EBI) in the assessment of entrepreneurial . behaviour of the cassava farmers, multiple regressions for estimation of factors influencing entrepreneurial behaviour of the cassava farmers while the Pearson’s correlation coefficient and production and constraints militating against the entrepreneurial capacity of the farmers respectively. Overall entrepreneurial behaviour of the cassava farmers using EBI showed a mean value of 0.4529 implying that their entrepreneurial behaviour is adjudged below average with an EBI range of 0.17 - 0.70. The estimation of factors that influence entrepreneurial behaviour showed that landholding (4.685***), annual income (2.893**), farming experience (5.819***), membership of cooperative (2.657***), market orientation (4.225***) and output (6.074***) positively and significantly influenced entrepreneurial behaviour at varying probability levels production showed that EBI and cassava output of the farmers have a negative relationship which xii The study analyzed entrepreneurial behaviour of cassava farmers in Ebonyi State, Nigeria.
