ABSTRACT
This study aims at examining the
challenges of human resource management practices towards employee's
productivity. This was necessitated by critical look into the management
process of NRCRI in which the following challenges: the challenges of
work-place culture which has. to do with the work norms, lack of commitment to
projects by workers, lack of adequate management training and orientation
programs, and withdrawal of allowances of workers which served as incentives
and motivation to employees. Objective and hypothetical statement in line with
the challenges were raise and analyzed using primary data collected by the use
of 130 questionnaires filled and returned. The simple statistics: frequency
distribution, percentages were used in analyzing the objectives 'and Chi-square
was used in testing the formulated hypotheses. The findings revealed that
inadequate management training and orientation has significant effect on
employees' productivity and that withdrawal of motivating allowances has
significant effect employees' productivity in NRCRI, Umudike. It was therefore
recommended that management and employees should be provided with adequate
managerial training, and employees should be intimated· for any changes that
will affect them before executing such change: The withdrawal of allowance
could have been well managed had the management kept employees on-the-know
