ABSTRACT

The study examined strategies for enhancing partnership among collaborating Agencies in the management of adult education programmes in South East Nigeria. The study surveyed the proprietors of adult of education centres, coordinators and instructors. The general purpose ofthe study was to identify strategies for enhancing partnership among collaborating agencies in the management of adult education programmes in South East Nigeria. Six research questions were posed with the intention to examine the extent of collaboration in decision making process, financial cooperation, human resources development, material resources development, supervision and monitoring in the management of adult education programmes in South East Nigeria. Six null hypothesis were tested at 0.05 level of significance to guide the study. A structured questionnaire titled Strategies for enhancing partnership among Collaborating Agencies the Management of Adult Education Programmes in South East Nigeria (SEPACAMAEQ) was the instrument used for data collection. The population of the study was 3216. The sample size of the study was 394 respondents made up ofinstructors. Face validity ofthe instrument was established by three experts to ensure item, adequacy, measurability and relevance ofthe instrument to the study. Mean and standard deviation was used to answer the research questions. While Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to test the hypothesis at p< 0.05 level ofsignificant. Findings ofthe study revealed among other things that government should extend financial subsidy to non-government adult education centres and also extend adult learning centres to rural communities. Provision of classroom, writing materials and recommended to test books to adult learners. However the researcher recommended among other things that government through the ministry of education officials should uphold the need for a collaborati ve effort towards the management of adult education programme. Secondly, Ihc’govcrnmcnl should also formulate policies that would encourage effective collaboration among government, NGOs and Donor Agencies in human resources development in the management of adult education programme.
