ABSTRACT

 This study was designed to identify the occupational practices needed by secondary school graduates in yellow pepper production in Isialangwa North Local Government Area of Ahia State. The aim is to upgrade the economic status and to be imbibed or abstracted in performing work effectively so as to have competent members in the society at large. Occupational practice in yellow pepper production is also a factor of production in that it brings out the necessary skills needed by the farmer in producing or planting yellow pepper so as to ensure high availability of the crop (yellow pepper) in the market. Six research questions were developed and answered in agreement with the purpose of the study. Six null hypothesis were fonnulated and tested at the probability of 0.05 level of significance. Six sets of structured questionnaire were develops from the related literature reviewed for six experts. The six sets of questionnaire were also tested for rehabilitation. The questionnaire were used for collecting data from the 200 respondents. The data were analyzed using the mean standard deviation to answer the research questions and t-test to test hypothesis to test the null hypothesis. The result of the null hypothesis tested showed that there were no significant difference in the mean rating of the responses of the group of respondents on occupational practice which their corresponding skills required by secondary school graduates in yellow pepper production in Isialnagwa North L.G.A of Abia State. It was recommended that the occupational practices with their corresponding practice identified by the study could be packaged into training programs by government for training secondary school graduates in yellow pepper production.
