Effects Of Capacity Building Workshops On The Efficiency And Effectiveness Of Ube Teachers In Umuahia Education Zone Of Abia State:- Akanwa, U.N
ABSTRACT
The study evaluated the effects
of capacity building workshops on the efficiency and effectiveness of UBE
teachers in Umuahia education zone. The sample of the study is 215 got by
proportionate stratified random sampling technique from a population of 851. To
guide the study, five research questions were asked and three null hypotheses
were formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. The instrument for
data collection is a researcher developed structured questionnaire of 34 items
of the Likert typc. The face and content validity was established by two
experts in measurement and evatation and reliability was determined by
test-retest method. The reliability index is 0.8. Kesreh questions were
answered using mean, and hypotheses tested with chi-square statistnes. Results
show that capacity building workshops helped to increase efficiency and
effectiveness of teachers who were trained better than those who were not
trained. A difference existed either by gender or and by location. It is
recommended amongst others that teachers in rural areas also be trained and
both male and female teaches should be trained because more females than males
were trained.
