ABSTRACT
Conflict Management Strategies
and its Impacts on performance of Corporate Institutes. The research adopted
National Roots Crops Research Institute (NRCRI), Umudike as the case study.
Conflict ordinarily is not bad and it should not be taken as a sign of bad
management or administration. Rather timely resolution of conflicts will always
reduce unnecessary cost on the Institute both in terms of money and time in the
corporate institutes, which is also a paradigm reflection of organizational
conflict. In the research process, a population of 500 was adopted with which
we determined our sample size of 222 using Yaro Yamene’s methodology. Primary
data was collected using Questionnaire and analyzed with simple percentage. The
major null hypothesis which was lack of conflict management strategy has no
impact in the performance of corporate institutes. The hypothesis was tested using
z-score. This null hypothesis was rejected and the implied alternative was
accepted. Thus, the research concluded that conflict management strategy has
greater impact on the performance of corporate institutes. Hence, in recommend
therefore, the adoption of conflict management and resolution strategies. This
is because is it natural that the interaction of people, nations, states,
organizations and more especially institutes can bring about various kinds of
conflict, or opposition between. Disagreement and dissatisfaction when handled
well can move the institute forward, because it will lead to the reexamination
of basic assumptions, policies, objectives, Practices and bring about
improvement of overall efficiency and effectiveness.
