ABSTRACT

Computerized Hospital Administration System is a research work that is aimed at reducing the bottleneck of patients that end up in long queues waiting to be answered by doctors. While hospitals, by concentrating equipment, skilled staff and other resources in one place, clearly provide important help to patients with serious or rare health problems, hospitals are also criticized for a number of faults, some of which are endemic to the system, others which develop from what some consider wrong approaches to health care. One criticism often voiced is the 'industrialized' nature of care, with constantly shifting treatment staff, which dehumanizes the patient and prevents more effective care as doctors and nurses are rarely intimately familiar with the patient. The high working pressures often put on the staff exacerbate such rushed and impersonal treatment. The architecture and setup of modem hospitals is often voiced as a contributing factor to the feelings of faceless treatment many people complain about. Another criticism is that hospitals are in themselves a dangerous place for patients, who are often suffering from weakened immune systems - either due to their body having to undergo, substantial surgery or because of the illness which placed them in the hospital itself. This research work shows i.ls the potential benefits we may obtain from the computerization of the Hospital Administration System. The out-patient department otherwise called OPD is a place where the out-patient that is patients that receive treatment at the clinic without staying overnight, wait for the doctors to attend to them. This manual operation of the outpatient information system is normally stressful. But when it is being computerized it will reduce the stress among those working in the out-patient department. To reduce the stress we use a computer which has a great capacity for processing information to. work. This project analyses the use of the old model of manual hospital patient and staff registration with that of the automated one. It finally shows that the Computerized Hospital Administration System is the best system at which both patients and staff will come to enjoy for a very long time to come in the future.
