ABSTRACT

The mobile phone based medical diagnostic system is an expert system for diagnosing diseases using a computer which is located remotely. This system provides ease diagnosis of diseases as long as a user has a mobile phone which can be used to send a text message. The system provides automated help through a mobile phone. This system has an expert knowledge base which is used to diagnose a pneumonia disease or symptoms- sent by a patient. The problem statements focus on the stress ofgoing from one hospital to another, couple with time involved in getting a pneumonia patient diagnosed seems to be slow, humans are liable to make mistakes during diagnosis, it requires people to physically meet a doctor for diagnosis before they can know that they are suffering from pneumonia. This research focuses on the development of an android mobile expert system for the diagnosis of pneumonia in order to improve the health condition ofthe people using android smart phone or any mobile devices. The objectives of this research are to develop a platform for an android mobile expert system for the diagnosis of pneumonia., build a database structure used to store data ofthe patients and staff, design a platform that provides expertise medical diagnosis services in areas that have under qualified medical personnel, create a platform that makes students and patients using android smart phone to have access to diagnosis of pneumonia via the internet, create a platform that enable people know whether they have pneumonia or not at their fingers tip, design a platform that provide instant medical attention as regards to consultation with a medical practitioner and design a platform that provide pneumonia diagnosis list. The application was tested using sample data collected like interview, observation, questionnaire, and internet. The outcome was a more user-friendly. The system is implemented by using PHP, Java script as back end, Html as front end and data were captured and stored in the database created with MYSQL.
