ABSTRACT

 This piece of work is on Design and the Implementation of Budgetary Control System Using The Office of Accountant-General of the Federation, Federal Ministry of Finance as the case study. The conventional Method of budgetary Control system was seen to be associated with many drawbacks. As a result, there is the need to come up with Design and the Implementation of Budgetary Control system which can help to overcome these setbacks associated with the conventional method such drawbacks include making an update of record very slow and this conventional method can also lead to fraud in accounting system. But with this system, update of record can be done very fast easy and will also control fraud. This work also shows that a clearly define budget, both during the early management planning stages and day-day working budgets, is important. Further, a series of milestones and outcomes can help the project mangers to maintain budgetary control. This project work also goes further to explains that the responsibility for overspending can alternatively lie with customers, the project management team, or unforeseen outside influence, depending on the reason for the overspending and can help control this process by effectively using milestones to help control the budgetary control process by effectively using milestones to help control the budgetary control this process by effectively using milestones to help control the budgetary control process. Budgetary control in project management is a critical component of the success of any project. Of all business activities, budgeting is one of the most important and, therefore requires detailed attention. No system of planning can be successful without having an effective and efficient system of control. Budgeting is closely connected with control, the -exercise of control in the organization with the help of budgets is known as budgetary control. a budgetary control system helps to measure the progress made towards goals, to uncover deviations, to initiate corrective actions, to know the causes for deviations and hence to avoid leaving things happen as they happen.
