ABSTRACT

Effective security cannot be achieved by relying on Technology alone. Technology and people must work together as part of an overall security process. The term biometrics covers a wide range of technologies that can analyzing human characteristics relying on attributes of the individual instead of things that individual may have or known. Ghost workers were rampant in most organization and government establishments before the advent of biometrics as a means of verification. Even before the introduction of the e- passport it was noted that a particular individual could have several passport as a means of identification. To make use of the possibilities of biometric and control its risks, the design and application of biometrics systems must satisfy criteria which include particularly a high level of security, comprehensive trust worthiness, adequate user friendliness and extensive social acceptability. Risk management is to identify asserts that must be protected and the impact of their potential loss, characterize threat to this asserts and vulnerabilities that would allow identified threats to be realizes. This project was designed to computerize the application of biometrics in identification system. The existing manual system was studied its problems were analyzed for solution using an electronic processing system. The desigii of the mew system and its implementation we have also included appendixes for simple report and screen sections, the codes for this system are in visual basic 6.0 programming language and Microsoft windows Xp operating system platform.
