ABSTRACT
A pedal
operated melon Sheller based on the principle of impact was developed and
tested. The results show that the machine has a shelling efficiency of 63.5% at
23.9%MC(wb); power requirement o( 64.6% watts (O.1h) and a _speed of 160rpm.
Samples of melon seeds at five (5) different levels of moisture contents (wb):
12.9%, 17.1%, 19.6%,23.9%, and 26.3% were used to evaluate the machine. The
machine performed better at 23.9%mc(wb).
