ABSTRACT
This study was carried out to ascertain the
challenges and coping initiativefor effective teaching practice programme in
Agricultural Education in Ikwuano, Abia State. The study was guided by
fourresearch questions and two null hypotheses. The literature related to the
study was reviewed under the conceptualframework, theoreticalframework,
empirical studies and summary ofthe related literature review. The study
adopted questionnaire research design, the population ofthe study were 74
students and 14 lecturers, there was no.sampling since it was convenientfor the
' researcher to use the whole population. The instrument for collecting data
was the use of questionnaire. The instrument was validated by three experts
from the College of Education. Michael Okpara University ofAgriculture,
Umudike. 'The reliability of the instrument was 0.83 which was conducted using
Cronbach Alpha coefficient after a test-retest was conducted. The method ofdata
collection was through the administration of 87 research questionnaires to the
respondents in the study area. Mean and t-test statistic were used to analyzed
the data. The findings ofthe study revealed that students and supervisorsfaced
numerous challenges such as rejection of the students teachers in the school
posted, difficulty in planning lesson note, inadequate fundfor supervision
exercise, inadequate draining ofsupervisors, among other. It was recommended
that adequate educational resources should be provided by governmentfor
efficient and effective teachingpractice programme in / bia State.
