The Effect Of Corporate Tax On The Profitability Of Selected Firms In Nigeria
ABSTRACT
The rate of corporate income tax paid by a business varies among countries although, since corporations are legal entities distinct from their owners and operators, they are typically taxed as if they are people. The amount of tax and how it is calculated varies depending upon the region where the company is located. The level of development of any nation depends on the amount of revenue generated for the provision of infrastructure. Within the last decade or so, the issue of domestic resource mobilization has attracted considerable attention in many developing countries. In the face of unabating debt difficulties, coupled with the domestic and external financial imbalances confronting them, it is not surprising that many developing nations have been forced to adopt stabilization and adjustment policies which demand better and more efficient methods of mobilizing domestic financial resources with a view to achieving financial stability and promoting economic growth (Kiabel & Nwokah, 2009).
