Modification Of A Double Crossed Beater Hammer Milling Machine For Bambara Nut Processing:- Uzuegbu Kingsley K
ABSTRACT
This study is all about the modification and
development of a double cross beater hammer milling machine for bambara flour
processing which will reduce drudgery, enhance milling efficiency, save time
and energy. This machine comprises of the hopper, milling chamber, double cross
beater of which the machine is designed to operate using a 15hp electric motor.
The performance evaluation ofthe developed double cross beater hammer milling
machine shows that the machine can grind 10kg of bambara nut in 76 seconds
unlike the existing single cross beater hammer milling machine which takes 140
seconds. This shows that the time taken to grind bambara nut in the developed
double cross beater hammer milling machine is lesser. We therefore encourage
the use of a double cross beater hammer milling machine in bambara flour
processing because of its numerous industrial benefits which include high
productivity and flexibility of grinding a large variety ofBambara nut. The
cost ofdeveloping this double cross beater hammer milling machine is four
hundred and twenty thousand naira only (420,000).
