ABSTRACT

Management ofacademic libraries has been an issue on the front burner oflibrarianship. Thisis based on the factthatwhat distinguishesthe library from any otherinstitution lies on the effective managementand coordination ofthe library’s resources and services. According to Okafor (2019), management ofacademic libraries goes beyond clerical work and putting fancifulsignatures. Inthis scenario, the opinionofJones(2002), which holdsthatmanagement isthe ability ofunderstanding what one needsto do and accomplishing it in the paramount and inexpensive manner, could be applied inthe academic libraries. To De-Marcas (2000), managementis a multipurpose organthatmanages a business, organization orinstitution and managesmanagers and manages workers orstaffand work. To crown it all, Ifeatu (2005) opinesthat good management achieves a social objective with the appropriate and suitable use/engagement ofhuman andmaterial energy andtime, andwith satisfaction forthe participants and the public.
