Abstract

The study is focused on the impact ofpolicyformulation as a toolfor ensuring organizational effectiveness. The main objective ofthe study is to assess the impact ofpolicyformulation as a tool for ensuring organizational effectiveness. The specific objectives are to: Identify the extent to which policy formulation aids in the attainment ofcorporate goal; determine the impact of policy formulation on Organizational effectiveness; identify the causes of policy implementation difficulties hi Guinness Nigeria Pic Aba; identify the different policy monitoring mechanisms established by Guinness Nigerian Pic. Sample size of 100 was ' ascertained through the administration ofwell-structured questionnaire (5 point likert scale). Descriptive statistics was employed to analyze individual objectives, regression test hypothesis ' hi 2 and chi-square tested hypothesis 3 & 4. Empiricalfindings revealed F = 3.923E3 > pvahie which revealed that policy formulation has a significant effect on corporate goal in Guinness Nigeria Pic under study. Hypothesis 2 revealed F = 319.690 > p value which indicated that policy formulation has significant impact on organizational effectiveness in Guinness Nigeria Pic unaerstudy. Hypothesis 3 and 4 was tested via Chis-square Pearson test significance asymptotic Significance (2-sided) < 0.05. Which suggests that the association between two variables is statistically significant ifTherefore hypothesis 3 revealed low level of employment; technological changes caused policy implementation difficulties in the organization, (it was not due to chancef.This led to the acceptance ofthe alternate hypothesis that low level ofemployment; technological changes cause policy implementation difficulties. Hypothesis Jour revealed the acceptance of alternate hypothesis that there is significant relationship between policyformulation mechanism and organizational effectiveness, whereas the null ofhypothesis ofhypothesis three andfour was rejected. In conclusion, it was observed that policyformulation and implementation is a very tedious process that requires a careful and critical analysis before it is embarked upon. Findings showed that causes of policy implementation are inherent in the organization. It was therefore recommended that political factors and technologicalfactors which contributes to poor governance, socio-political and economicproblems must be addressed. To ensure thatpolicyformulation served as a veritable too!for organizational effectiveness.
