ABSTRACT
The study examined the impact
ofplanning andforecasting on organizationalperformnce -with a - particular
reference to Nigeria Bottling Company Pic Irete Onitsha Road Owerri, Imo state
Nigeria The objective isto determine ifasignificantrelationship exists between
strategicplanning in a business organization and its growth, to investigate
ifadequateforecasting helps m ensuring efficientproductivity ofthe business and
to identify the major toolsforplanning andforecasting andhow to effectively use
those to reduce businessfailures or distress. Survey method ofanalysis ■was adoptedfor the study. A
set ofstructured questionnaire was used as instrumentfor data collection and
administered to 250 respondent randomly using Taro Yamane and J54 were duly
filledandreturned. The datawasthen analyzedusingSPSS version. The
resultshowedforecasting and Budget tool show a positive and significant
relationship with Business growth, this implies that otherplanning activities
likeforecasting and budgeting m Nigerian Bottling Company also contribute to
the businesspotentials enjoyed by the organization. The study therefore
concludes, for any business organization to continue as agoing concern,
planning andforecastingstrategies must be deployedandat the right time to help
boost the activities ofthe organization andposition such economic entity in a
more competitiveway toprofit the owners andvariousstakeholders. The study
recommends that effective feedback mechanism is recommended to be integrated in
the planningandforecasting strategiesto enable management to compareplans with
the outcome.
