ABSTRACT

The study determined the effect of corporate social responsibility on organization growth (A study of selected manufacturing firms in Aba, Abia State). Specifically, the study determined the effect of firms host community job creation on their shareholder value; ascertained the effect of firm’s community programmes support on their firm value; examined the effect of the firm’s community project and empowerment on their competitive advantage and established challenging factors of corporate social responsibility in manufacturing firms. This study made use of descriptive survey approach. This study employed primary source of data collection. The population of the study comprised of all the staff in the selected manufacturing firms in Aba Abia State; the total population hereby comprised of 772 staff of both manufacturing firms (7up bottling company and Nestle Nigeria Plc) in Aba Abia. A stratified sampling method was adopted in selecting 263 respondents for the study. The result of the analysis showed that firms host community job creation had a positive and significant effect on firm’s job creation has a significant effect on shareholder’s value at 1% level. Firm’s programmes support has a significant effect on their firm’s value at 1% level. Firm’s project has a significant effect on their competitive advantage at 1% level and firm’s empowerment has a significant effect on firm’s value at 1% level. The study recommended that manufacturing companies should conduct ongoing, intensive research to maximize the use of CSR-related activities for improving organizational performance, as this will greatly facilitate the achievement of their goals and objectives.
