ABSTRACT
A Rice
de-stoning machine was fabricated in this study using locally sourced standard
materials. The machine is developed to solve the problem associated with rice
processing, particularly the removal ofstones and other impurities. This
research was carried out to modify existing rice destoner for the purpose of
increasing its capacity, efficiency and further reducing the cost implications
from the already existing mechanisms. A 0.5HP vibratory motor motor with a
speed of 2840 r min-1 was intended to power the destoning machine and
Galvanized steel was used majorly for the fabrication of component parts for
ease of machining, assembling, maintenance and affordability. The efficiency in
separating and de-stoning rice was assessed, along with the amount ofimpurities
remaining after separation. The total cost of producing one unit of the rice
de-stoning machine is Four hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira only.(M450,540
