ABSTRACT vii The results obtained were presented in Tables and percentages. Chisquare test was used to test for any association between age and sex. This study evaluated the prevalence of Campylobacter organisms from pigs in Umuahia North and Umuahia south Local Government Area of Abia state, Nigeria. A total of 164 fecal samples were collected from pigs in commercial pig farms. Sixty-eight (41.5%) of the samples tested positive to Campylobacter species. Two major Campylobacter species were isolated. Campylobacter coli 59 (86.8%) and Campylobacter jejuni 9 (13.2%). C. coli had a higher isolation rate 59 (86.8%) of the positive isolates than C. jejuni. The highest number of samples 84 (51.2%) were collected from female pigs, and 40 (47.6%) tested positive for Campylobacter species which is higher than in male pigs.
