ABSTRACT
Treculia africana is a native of Polynesia where it is of ancient cultivation. The breadfruit is an important staple food in Polynesia. It is now grown throughout the tropics and as used more as vegetable as fruit. The seedless forms are eaten after cooking and may be boiled, baked, roasted, fried or made into soups. The seeded forms, known as breadfruit (chataigne in west indices) the seeds are eaten after boiling or roasting and have a chestnut seeds flavour.
