Comparative Study of Relationship between Continuous Assessment scores and Examination Scores: Implication for Quality Assurance :- Akanwa, U. N.

Abstract This study tries to find out the relationship between continuous assessment scores and examination scores in Junior Secondary Certificate Examinations (JSC). A combination of cluster, purposive, systematic and random sampling techniques were used. To guide the study, 3 null hypotheses were used. Data were collected from the examination development centre Ahia State for 5 core suhjects namely English, mathematics, social studies, integrated science and Igbo. Data were analysed with Pearson Product Momen Correlation Statistics. Findings showed that there was significant relationship between continuous assessment scores and examination scores for hoth puhlic and private schools except for mathematics and integrated science in private schools. It is recommended amongst others that teachers should he aclcquarc~r motivated to make for continued implementation of continuous assessment as quality assurance measure.
