ABSTRACT

The study examines consumers attitude toward the purchase and consumption of beans (vigna unguiculata) in Abia state. socio economical characteristics of respondent were analysed. 160 respondent were employed for this study . the respondent were selected purposively, description statistics, bi nary logic and paired —t test statistics were the tools used in the analysis of data. The result shows that the main age of the respondent is 41 - 0vrs implying that majority of the household heads are of middle age class, and capable of providing fbr their household majority of the respondent arc females given the tact that they are home makers. 91.87 percent were married. Futher more 91.87 percent of the respondent acquire one form of education or the other. 40.63 percent were civil servant, while 55.63 percent are of the income bracket (2 1 000-40000) which implies that majority are low income earners. Binary logic was used to analyze (actors influencing the consumption of beans. The result shows that education and household size al1ct the consumption positively, while age.
