An Analysis Of An Export Constraint And The Opportunity Of Nigerian Firm Into ECOWAS Sub-Region (A Study Of Hic-Oil Nigeria Limited Aba, Abia State) Presented

ABSTRACT

The research is essentially exploratory. The researcher tried to analyzed the export constraints and the opportunities Nigerian firm have in the ECOWAS sub-region with particular reference to Hic Oil Nig Ltd, Aba. Export no doubt is an old phenomenon in Nigeria economic setting although had fallen to the extent that has caused economic problem to the nation. Nigeria economy is threatened and its life is in jeopardy to the extent that it needs some modification in the form of finding other products with export potentials to sustain the economy. The study centered on some firms in export business and it tried to touch on the different constraints and opportunities existing for favourable export of locally made goods. The objective of this research centered on finding why the countries production activities have not been export oriented, why those who are adopted export marketing programmes in the past had not been successful, analyzing the export constraints and opportunities of Nigeria firms, whether there exists foreign market for made in Nigeria product to obtain the required data for this research, written questionnaire and oral interview directed at the management of the firms studies were used. The findings revealed that Nigeria's present economic climate would make exporting more profitable. Success in export market depend on the amount of marketing efforts invested, there exist a potential foreign market for made in Nigeria products and the ability to identify appropriate market opportunities was found to be the key to successful export marketing. The researcher therefore recommended of the government and that the potentials and opportunities highlighted above were sine-qua-non to any successful exploitation development of the country's resource for additional foreign exchange earnings for the nation.
