ABSTRACT

This study examined white ocean mixed strategy: a panacea for enhanced oiganizational performance ofselected manufacturing firms in South East, Nigeria. The study sought to ascertain the extent to which red ocean/competitive strategy boost market share, determine the degree to which blue ocean/monopoly strategy enhance value innovation, evaluate the effect of green ocean/sustainability strategy on the survival, examine the effect of white ocean/social strategy on the competitive strength, establish the relationship between black ocean/survival strategy and firm effectiveness and explore the effect of idcal/opiimum strategy on the performance of selected manufacturing firms in South East, Nigeria. The study adopted a survey research design and primary data was used to gather information from the respondents. The target population of 781 consists ofstaff ofthe five selected manufacturing firms in South East, Nigeria. The sample size of265 was derived from Taro Yamane formula. A total oftwo hundred and sixty-five (265) copies ofthe questionnaire were distributed to the various study firms. Out ofthis number, eighty-six (86) copies ofquestionnaire were lost/wrongly filled with percentage ratio of32.4% while one hundred and seventy-nine (179) copies of questionnaire were correctly filled and returned with percentage ratio of 67.6%, which formed the basis ofthe study. To test the hypotheses ofthis study, the study adopted analysis of variance (ANOVA), simple linear regression model and Pearson Correlation Coefficient SPSS Version 22. From the result of the findings, the study showed that red ocean/competitive strategy boost market share of selected manufacturing firms in South East, Nigeria, blue ocean/monopoly strategy enhance value innovation ofselected manufacturing firms in South East, Nigeria, green ocean/sustainability strategy has a significant effect on the survival of selected manufacturing firms in South East, Nigeria, white ocean/social strategy has a significant effect on the competitive strength of selected manufacturing firms in South East, Nigeria, there is a significant relationship between black ocean/survival stratesv and effectiveness ofselected manufacturing firms in South East. Nigeria and ideal/optimum strategy has a significant effect on the performance of selected manufacturing firms in South East. Nigeria. The study recommended that management of the selected firms should to a great extent adopt competitive strategy, adopt a policy to provide new ideas and services that align with society's needs and desires, adopt green practices in energy consumption, water consumption, waste management and awareness creation among employees, integrate corporate social responsibility programs into their corporate strategic plans, be caution to the activities of another firm since trust will lose their guard which in turn affect the performance at the end and execution strategy which confirms the success of die work in any situational conditions and constraints to ensure sustainability with huge profit
