Time Series Analysis Of The Retail Prices Of Yam In Nigeria, 2001 – 2006
ABSTRACT
In recent years. the prices of yam
has increased astronomically and has defied all and government to bring it down
through increased production. At his point, this work wishes to confirm that
the efforts of individuals, corporate bodies and government at maintain normal
prices of yam in Nigeria has an underlying growth trend The estimated
autocorrelation function and partial autocorrelation function where compared with
the theoretical autocorrelation and partial autocorrelation function, which
indicates that the data series followed an autoregressive model of order one
and moving average of order one. The fitted box-Jenkins model was used to make
forecast and we observed an increase in prices of yam at earlier periods which
suggests the likely rise of prices of yam in Nigeria
