The Role Of Internal Audit Department In The Standardization Of The Organizational Accounting System (A Study Of Abia State Local Government Service Commission, Umuahia Abia State):- Evurulobi Ifeyinwa
ABSTRACT
The
aim of this study is to analyze the role of internal audit department in the
standardization of the organization accounting system. Auditing is an
independent examination by an auditor of the evidence from which the final
statement of an organization are prepared . We identify problems of inadequate
and unqualified staff. In most cases majority of the internal audit do not have
any basic knowledge of bookkeeping and accountancy. Their performance surely
cannot be satisfactory. The sample size is 400 [four hundred],questionnaire was
used as an instrument for collecting data and data collected was analyzed using
simple percentage . It was found that there is positive regression between
mathematics and accounting , more so there is low performance of student in
accounting. Based on findings, teachers who teach accounting must be those who
read accounting. In the course of the study, two sets of data were used . the
primary data obtained through the questionnaires administered to the staff with
academic qualifications GCE/SSCE and OND. Other staff were with BSC and
HND.ICAN.ANAN and other professional bodies, while the secondary data were
collected and analyzed using regression model. The major finding of the
research includes: How internal audit unit are not adequately staffed with
qualified personnel.
