ABSTRACT

This study is focused on "The Impact of Central Bank of Nigeria Money Su ply to the Economic Growth of Nigeria" covering a period of eight years (from 005 - 2012). The specific objective is to determine the effect of money supply or! Gross domestic product in Nigeria, to ascertain the impact of interest rate on money supply in Nigeria and to examine the impact of exchange rate on money supply in Nigeria. The data was collected through secondary source. The computer software programme SPSS 17.0 was used to regress the data collected. And ordinary Least Square method and t- test was used in analyzing the data. The major findings based on the analysis, it was discovered that Money Supply has a positive effect oil Gross domestic product in Nigeria and also, Exchange rate and .Interest rate have a positive effect on money supply in Nigeria. Recommendations were made based on the findings, policies recommended include: monetary policies should L used to create a favourable investment climate by facilitating the emergency of market based interest rate and exchange rate regimes that attract both domestic and reign investments, create jobs, promote non oil export and revive industries that are currently operation far below installed capacity, the government should as t is in developed countries and the Central Bank should find a way of reducing the level of deficit financing, improve funding of the informal sector.
