ABSTRACT

The study examined the impact ofGovernment expenditure on infrastructural development of Nigeria. The study coveredfrom 1995 to 2016. The specific objectives were to determine the impact ofcapital expenditure on road infrastructure development in Nigeria, to ascertain the impact of capital expenditure on agriculture infrastructure development in Nigeria, to examine the impact of capital expenditure on power infrastructure development in Nigeria. Secondary data was used for the study and the data was sourced from central bank of Nigeria Statistic bulletin.. The sourced data was analyzed with simple regression. The findings ofthis study revealed that capital expenditure has positive and insignificant impact on road infrastructure development in Nigeria, capital expenditure has positive and insignificant impact on agriculture infrastructure development in Nigeria, capital expenditure impact has positive and insignificant impact on power infrastructure development in Nigeria. It was recommended that Nigeria government should adoptstringent controls on its expenditures on infrastructure development so as to reduce fraud, fund diversion and mismanagement of fund been allocated for infrastructure development, Moreover, monitoring and evaluation ofgovernmentspending on infrastructure development must be given top priority. This will help to ensure that the targets ofgovernment spending are reached.
