The Effect Of Acquisitions On Corporate Performance Of Banks In Nigeria: A Case Study Of Fidelity Bank Plc.
ABSTRACT
The effect of acquisition on organizational
performance in Nigeria was studies in this research. To determine the extent of
acquisition using Fidelity Bank Plc. Data was gotten from the financial reports
for the reacquired banks; Manny Bank Plc and FSB Intercontinental Bank Plc and
Fidelity Bank Plc for post acquisition. The data was analyzed using multiple
regression and correlation. From the regression, it was observed that, capital
base (X1) and assets base (X2) had a positive significance influence on the pre
and post objectives. The correlation analysis revealed that earnings pre-share
(Eps) is the only significant factor (0.01 level) on the extent of pre-
acquisition and how they influence on bank as well as its practitioner and the
overall organizational performance initiative. It also revealed in the post
acquisition that earnings per share (Eps), divided per share (Dps) and net
asset reserves (NAR) had no significant at all on the objective. It was
recommend that capital base. Asset base and earnings per share (Eps) should be
considered in pre acquisition of any organization because they had significance
influence and earnings per share (Eps), divided per share (Dps) and Net, asset
reserves (NAR) should be considered in any post acquisition decision and so on.
