ABSTRACT
Regression analysts,, a statistical tool Ls used
to determine the functional relationship between two or more variables. The
data for Illis work were collected on the cassava yield, temperature and
relative humidity from National Root Crops Research (NRCR1) Umudike and Abia
State Ministry of Agriculture for the period of 1992 to 2010. This work
developed a multiple linear regression model to the overall data and can be use
to predict future yield of cassava in terms of temperature and humidity. It
also tests for the significant of the overall regression. The fitted model is
of the form: Yi = 51.3 - 1.08X - 0.0890 X2(. The analysis of variation (ANOVA)
table and the parameters of the model were found to have significant
relationship. That is, the cassava yields seem to depend on temperature,
humidity, etc. The result appears to be at random on a residual plot. Hence
there need to evaluate the planting period to know the weather conditions that
is more favourable to get the maximum cassava yield.
