Role Of Responsibility Accounting In Public Limited Company (A Study Of Unilever Nigeria Plc. Aba):- Nwafor Onyiniyechi S
ABSTRACT
This research study is aimed at role of
responsibility accounting in public limited companies. Responsibility
accounting involves different organizational sub-units like the cost, profit
and investment departments. These departments or sub-units provide information
to top management about their performances. This system of accounting cannot
work except the organization is decentralized. The research highlighted how the
decentralization can work effectively where responsibility accounting system is
established and how responsibility report can assist in evaluating performance
of subordinates and the sub-units. The primary and secondary data were used for
the purpose of the study. The data collected were as well analysed using tables
and percentages. Chi-square method was also used in testing the hypothesis.
Also, the measure of profit is complicated by the problem of transfer prices
and a manager competency, can affect a company financial performance. However
the research recommends that unit manager should ensure that the quality and
quantity of services they produce should influence the financial performance of
the company. Finally, responsibility accounting is an effective tool for the
financial performance of a company.
