Relationship between Attitude Towards STIS and Health Seeking-Behaviour Among Young Women:- Chikezie, S.C
ABSTRACT
Sexually Transmitted Infections
and HIV/AIDS are prevalent among young women especially those of reproductive
ages. Their occurrence could severely compromise women's health, fertility,
productivity and survival. Despite the vital role young women play in national
development, there are little researches on the assessment of their
health-seeking behaviours. This study therefore, investigated attitude as a
predicting bealth- . seeking bc;haviour for sexually 1ransmi11ed infections
among young women in Umuahia Urban, Abie State. A descrip1i,•e·survey research
design of an ex-post factor was adopted for the study. Young women who were, .
infJcted j\y_i.th Sexually Transmilled Infections and were receiving treatme_nls
from Government Hospitals inl'. ! Umuahii Urban, were randomely selected
through a randomized equal basis cluster process. Multiple regression I. ~nd!r-
c9~relat1on cocfficrcnt was _used to analyse the dnta at 0.05 significance.
Results rndtcated ;that _nttrtu~e;· j,contributed to health -seeking behavior.
