Psycho-Social Factors that influence Students' attitude towards cheating in Examinations:- Ngozi Uzoka
Abstract
The study investigated the influence of some
psycho-social factors on I attitude towards cheating in examination. Two
psychological I variable of self-concept and locus of control and two social
variables of social-economic status of parents and parenting styles and their
influence on attitude towards examination cheating were the focus of the study.
A research question of four hypothesis tested at 0.05 level of significance
guided the study. Six schools and 250 SSS students were both randomly selected
from all the secondary schools in Aba North and South were collected through
four validated research question on hypothesis 1; while hypothesis 2-5 were
analyzed with the X. results apart from showing that, students indicated
positive attitude to cheating in examinations, it portrayed that attitude to
cheating in examinations significantly depended on self-concept, locus of
control, and parenting styles. Socio-economic status did not reflect any
significant dependence in this regard. The counseling and educational
implications and recommendations were highlighted.
