ABSTRACT
Modified and non modified soils were studied to determine potassium quantity-intensity (Q/I) relations and compare some of their physico- chemical properties. The modified soil samples consisted of the Nasute termite mounds (N.T.M), macrotermes termite mound (M.T.M) and earthworm cast (EC). The labile K (KL) ranged from 0.20 to 1.20 cm01kg 1 and was significantly correlated with exchangeable potassium (r =0.763**) and organic matter (r = 0.576*). The potential buffering capacity (PBC) ranged from 0.02 to 0.11 cmo1kg' (ML') °5and did not show any significant correlation with soil properties. Fixed K (KX) ranged from 0.50 to 2.40 cmo1kg 1and also showed no significant correlation with any of the soil properties. High labile potassium (KL) obtained in Nasute termite mound and earthworm cast showed high potassium status in these soils. The Nasute termite mound and earthworm cast contain similar properties which were significantly higher than those of ordinary soil (P<0.05)
