Learning Environment And Students Academic Performance: Implication For Counselling:- Agbaegbu C.N
Abstract
The study investigated the influence of learning
environment on academic performance ofsecondary school students. Two learning
environments are considered the home and the school environment were identified
for this study. Three research questions and three hypotheses were raised to
guide the study. The study used survey research design. The questionnaire
entitled "/earning environment and student academic performance"
(LEASAP) was designed and used to elicit information appropriate for this
study. 100 secondary school students were sampled and used for the study. After
computation, the result revealed that there was significant influence of
learning environment on the academic performance of secondary school students.
Appropriate counselling strategies were proffered as remedies to the study. It was
recommended that parents at home should put in their best to provide a
conducive home environment for their children to study. The Government should
also provide schools with good infrastructural facilities as well as learning
materials to make leaching and learning transactions easy
