“Internal Audit as a Means of Checking Financial Misappropriation and Ineffectiveness in an Organization. (A Study of Umuahia North Local Government Area)”:- Nwakuba, Rosemary C.
ABSTRACT
The
research work ‘‘internal audit as a means of checking financial
misappropriation and ineffectiveness in an organization. ” Internal audit is an
integral part of the finance structure in the Nigeria public organization, lack
of accountability in local government because accounting officers are not held
accountable for assets/funds under their control. To examine the effects of
internal auditing on financial misappropriation and ineffectiveness. My data
was collected using the primary data and the data was analysed using ordinary
least square regression. The findings were rejected by the null hypotheses
while the alternative hypotheses was accepted. The conclusion has suggested
that the accounting officers are saddled with the responsibilities of handling
these funds are notproperly checked by the internal audit department.
