ABSTRACT
This research is on the "Impact of Value Added Tax on Nigeria Non-Oil Revenue generation". The domination for.oil as a major source of revenue to the government has made many · Nigerians unwilling to pay tax as appropriate. Therefore, the researcher is 'out to know how value added tax has contributed to the non-oil revenue generation of the country. Data were collected from primary and secondary source. Questionnaires were distributed to the respondents (workers of FIRS, Umuahia) for the
primary data. The data were analyzed using tables with percentage to show the degree of the responses to the questions while Chi-square was used to test the hypothesis. The population and sample size of this research work is based on the
questionnaires administered on the staff of the FIRS, Umuahia, questionnaires were administered and were completed. So based on these, the judgmental statistical 'method was used.
The major funding of the research are:
• There has been significant increase in revenue generation from VAT:
• The unwillingness for Tax payer topay tax is because of the poor use of revenue generated from tax.
• High tax evasion 111 Nigeria is Jue to the appropriate attitude or Nigerians (and poor use of tax money).
From the following, recommendations were made:
• Efficient structures should be put- in place to resolve the problem of tax evasion among the citizens and thus enhance the economic development of the country. Better use of tax money for the benefits of the tax payers should be done.
