Evaluation Of Internally Generated Revenue Of Local Government Councils In Abia State (A Case Study Of Bende Local Government Council):- Owoh, Vivian C
ABSTRACT
The dominant idea of this study
is based on evaluating the Internally generated revenue oflocal government
councils in Abia state. The specific objectives of this study are to evaluate
the source, limitations and proffer solutions to Internally generated revenue
of local government councils. The sample size was made up of 67 respondents of
local government council officials and workers of Bende local government
council which served as the assessable population. Descriptive statistics such
as tables, frequency and percentages was used to .analyze the data collected
while regression analysis and chi - square statistic was used to analyze the
research questions and hypotheses formulated respectively. This led the
researcher to conclude that various sources exists for Internally generated
revenue and it have been limited by financial malpractises and fund
mismanagement. Based on the findings, it was recommended that for proper
Internal revenue machinery to be established in the local government councils,
there is need for extreme accountability and transparency in Internal revenue
management and it should be utilized for socio-economic development and
advancement at the grassroots.
