Impact Of Liquidity Management On Profitability Of Commercial Banks In Nigeria (A Study Of Zenith Bank Nigeria):- Ekeh Vivian O
ABSTRACT
The study
seeks to examine the effect ofliquidity management on profitability of listed
commercial banks in Nigeria. Data was gotten from the sampled listed
banksfinancial statement as published on the Nigerian stock exchange market.
The study employed the use of multiple ordinary least square regression
technique to analyze and test the three stated hypotheses. Findings from the study
revealed that; liquidity ratio has a positive insignificant effect on the
profitability of listed commercial banks in Nigeria. Furtherfindings revealed
that cash holding has a positive significant effect on the profitability of
listed commercial banks in Nigeria. Final findings revealed cash flow ratio has
a negative insignificant effect on the profitability oflisted commercial banks
in Nigeria. Thus it is recommended that commercial banks should maintain a high
liquidity ratio as these will give room for them to have access to readily cash
which will enhance their business transactions and increase their
profitability. Also, commercial banks should also endeavor to have good cash at
hand and cashflow ratio to enable themfacilitates easy and readily loan transactions
and other business transactions to burst their business profitability.
