ABSTRACT
The study was on the impact of
information and communication delivery systems on organizational performance.
The specific objectives were to; examine if effective information and
communication system affect organizational performance; ascertain if organization
environment affect communication; verify if communication difficulties affect
various management cadre in organization. The primary data was collected with
the aid of a well-structured questionnaire. Additionally, personal observations
and interviews also formed a critical means of data collection. A probability
sampling technique was employed and the relevant respondent from each groups
were selected by stratified sampling technique this is a method in which the
population are divided into categories before selection is made. Data was
analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequency tables and percentages
while chi-square statistics was used to test the hypothesis. The result showed
that for the chi-square test on the effective information and communication
system that affect organizational performance. The X2 calculated was greater
than X2 tabulated at 0.05 (5%) significance level. Therefore, the null
hypothesis that organisational performance does not depend on effective
communication was rejected while the alternative hypothesis was accepted which
suggests organisational performance depend on effective communication, for the
result of chi-square on Organizational environment does not affect
communication. The results as presented above shows that X2 calculated is
greater than X2 tabulated at 0.05 significance level. Therefore, the null
hypothesis that Organizational environment does not affect communication was
rejected while the alternative hypothesis was accepted which suggests
Organizational environment does not affect communication. For the chi-square
test on communication difficulty does not affect various management levels in
organization, the calculated chi-square value of was greater than the tabulated
chi-square value. Therefore, the null hypothesis that Communication difficulty
does not affect various management levels in organization was rejected while
the alternative hypothesis was accepted. The implication of the result is that
Communication difficulty to a large extent affects the various management
levels in organization. The following were recommended, there should be a
proper understanding in the use of language for communication between the
various levels of management in an organization, a suitable channel of
communication should be adopted in order to avoid communication breakdown. The
needs of employees should be effectively communicated in order to enhance their
performance. This would in turn enhance the overall performance of the
organization.
