Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine measurement policy geared towards gender equity and mcluszve governance in South- Eastern Nigeria. A survey research design was used for the study. Two research questions guided the study and one null hypothesis was posited and tested. A 20- item questionnaire was designed using the modified four-point Likert Scale, validated by three experts in measurement and evaluation in Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State,and administered to 360 respondents so as to gather the information used for data analysis. The reliability co-efficient of the instrument was calculated to be 0.91 using Cronbach Alpha method. Results of data analysis using simple percentages and ChiSquare statistic revealed that measurement strategies and policies geared towards ensuring gender equity and inclusive governance are poorly implemented. Male and female respondents do not significantly differ (p = 0.05) in their perceptions of the identified variables that hinder gender equity and inclusive governance in the study area. Based on these findings, it was recommended that legal frameworks should be put in place to review policies centered on gender equity and inclusive governance in order to facilitate better participation from both genders.
