Evaluation Of Effectiveness Of Monetary Policy On Bank Performance: A Case Of First Bank Plc
ABSTRACT
This study was on the evaluation of effectiveness of monetary policy on bank performance . A case study of first Bank Plc. The study specifically looked at the performance of the bank, changes in monetary policy instrument and the banking. ,the relationship between monetary instrument and bank performance, and finally, the effect of monetary policy on the performance of the bank. Secondary data were used in this study. The secondary data were compiled from CBN and First Bank annual reports and bulletin. Data collected,. covena period of 1999- 2010. Data were analyzed using tablQ$, percentages, Pearson Moment Correlation and regression. The result shows that there was an increase in the performance between 2002 to 2008 and a sharp decline in the value and percentage of profit between 2008 and 2009.This could be due to the global economic meltdown and the crises that occurred in the Nigerian Stock Exchange Market. There was a positive but non significant relationship between monctaly instrument and performancc. Finally, there was a positive and significant effect of monetary policy on bank performance.
